Fox's Peter Staddon, their Sr. Vice Pres. of marketing (who also is in charge of their DVD development) was cordial enough to chat publicly last night in a live online session, sponsored and hosted by the splendid staff over at
The Home Theater Forum. He was asked a LOT of TV-on-DVD related questions, and tonight I hope to bring you the complete wrap-up.
Chris Cook asked Mr. Staddon about
Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place, and whether we could expect to see it on DVD in the near future. "The near future" was indeed a wise choice of words. Staddon, referring to the show by it's well-known shorter name beginning in the 3rd season (when they "ditched" the pizza place as part of the show) stated that "
Two Guys and a Girl will be coming out in the first half of this year."
Now there is some happy news, eh? Fans of Pete, Berg, and Sharon should stay tuned, because it's obvious that things will happen pretty fast with this release. We'll have details for you just as soon as Fox makes them known.
UPDATE (7/17): DVDs have not been planned for this show; the above story was based upon confusion that happened during the chat event. This is taken from a "site news"
posting we made, updating about items brought up in the chat:
What about Two Guys, A Girl, and a Pizza Place? Staddon surprised everyone in the chat with his response, but confused us as well. At the time, he said "Two guys and a girl will be coming out in the first half of this year. I'm not familiar with Pizza Place and we're not working on it now." TVShowsOnDVD added to the confusion, by speculating that he was referring to the show's better-known short name, which we pointed out was adopted in the 3rd season. As for the second part of Staddon's reply in the chat, we thought he was just having fun with us all. Was he? No, actually, it turns out that he was just a tad mixed-up at the moment! Staddon told Gord "I was confused - I thought it was a movie." Well, that's understandable. Even more so because I'm sure it was Fox's similarly-named film Two Girls and a Guy he was thinking of. The title had been out on DVD for a while, but in the spring of this year it was re-released and re-priced as part of a themed promotion. It's not a stretch to see a mix-up on that one, and we certainly will forgive Staddon for being human and making a mistake. Thanks for explaining it...we appreciate that you didn't just leave fans of the show hanging, waiting for it. I'll point out that there was *HIGH* interest in the news post back then for Two Guys, A Girl, and a Pizza Place, so perhaps Fox should consider bringing it out after all!
