Gulliver's Travels, starring Ted Danson , Mary Steenburgen, Peter O'Toole, Alfre Woodard, Omar Sharif and Ned Beatty, returns to DVD with a new and improved Special Edition, with new advantages over the old disc on the market from back in 2000. Genius Entertainment has announced that the
September 9th release of
Gulliver's Travels - Special Edition presents the classic for the first time with a widescreen picture, and also includes new bonus material including a "Making Of" segment as well as interviews with the cast.
Gulliver's Travels is a brilliant satire and inventive fantasy that basically invented the idea of "even-television." With ground-breaking special effects by Jim Henson Productions, Gulliver's Travels is the story of an 18th century physician who journeys are something of legend - he towers over the tiny city of Lilliput, matches wits with a cunning sorcerer, and proves his mettle in a realm where horses rule and humans are beasts.
The mini-series, based on the classic stories written by Jonathan Swift in the 1700s, runs 187 minutes long and - besides the new extras mentioned above - will also have never-before-seen footage on the set included on this new release, plus a photo gallery, casting notes, drawings and other tidbits from behind the scenes. While a picture of the DVD case isn't available yet (stay tuned for that), we're informed it will come in a collectible "O-Ring" slip-cover package. Cost is $14.95 SRP.
