Growing Pains - A Bit Of Unfinished Business: What IS The Season 1 DVD's 'Reunion' Extra?

We owe our apologies to our readers that love Growing Pains, and are waiting for the almost-there-now February 7th release date of the first season on DVD. When we posted our most recent news about this release, we told you that one of the extras was a Cast Reunion special. Here's what we promised at the time:
We're not sure if the latter is either of the two reunion telefilms (2000's The Growing Pains Movie or 2004's Growing Pains: Return of the Seavers), or if this is something else. We'll try to find out, of course.

Well, we certainly have left you all hanging, haven't we? We're so sorry! That one just got right by us, and we never followed up. Fortunately, one of our readers gave us a swift kick in the pants recently and reminded us about this. Not only reminded us, either: Danielle Wilder actually provided us with the answer!

The info comes from Amazon's pre-order listing, and we've verified it directly with Warner Home Video. The reunion extra on this DVD set is neither The Growing Pains Movie nor Growing Pains: Return of the Seavers. No, it falls under the category of "something else."

The supplement is instead a featurette called "Seaver Family Reunion: S'mores and More." This is a newly produced documentary, in which the original cast reunites around a campfire to reminisce about the show.

That's pretty cool, and we certainly appreciate that the cast took the time to get back together and take a stroll down memory lane for us in this supplment. Kudos to Warner for making that happen! Of course, we certainly still want to get both reunion telefilms on DVD eventually. But we, and we suspect most of you, will be content to get those at the end of the DVD run, as part and parcel of the seventh and final season of the series. Our thanks one more to Danielle for the help, and the kick in the pants. We'll be looking to get our copies of this in just a bit over a week...we can't wait!
