With the second season having just hit stores this past Tuesday, it's great to know that Grounded For Life - Season 3 will be released quickly. Retailers are already being told to expect the new set to be on their shelves on August 8th, at a $19.98 SRP.
Anchor Bay hasn't officially announced the title yet, so we checked in with one of the show's Executive Producers and Creators, Mike Schiff, about why the cost is so low on this one. He told us that this set is priced the way it is because it only contains 13 episodes: the 11 that aired (3 on Fox, and 8 on The WB), plus 2 "lost" episodes that never aired on either network. But he tells us that there will be 6 commentary tracks on this season set, with a bunch of writers/producers plus actors Lynsey Bartilson ("Lily") and Miriam Flynn ("Sister Helen").
Mike also gave us a heads-up about the 4th and next-to-final season set, telling us that it will contain the remaining 28 episodes, with ongoing storylines that the producers of the show did not want to break up on DVD. He doesn't know when Anchor Bay plans to release that yet, but stay tuned and we'll let you know when we find out. We're also waiting on the formal details and artwork on the 3rd Season from the studio, so please stand by for that! Our thanks to Mike Schiff for taking the time to fill us in. Good luck to him and GFL partner Bill Martin on their new series, The Singles Tables, which NBC has announced will be a mid-season replacement on their schedule next year. Mike also tells us that GFL star Donal Logue also has a new show picked up by ABC, so good luck to him as well!
