These past few days we've
posted news about the upcoming (
February 14th) DVDs for
Grey's Anatomy - Season 1, the short 9-episode rookie (or is that "intern"?) year which started out as a mid-season try-out to fill in the late Sunday night slot on ABC for a bit. This was because the network was intending to hold onto the season-ending episodes of the show that had been doing so well in that slot,
Boston Legal, to save them for May sweeps.
We all know how that turned out! Even though
BL is a VERY enjoyable show (not to mention its Emmy wins), and was a very successful series in that slot,
Grey's Anatomy actually did better there ratings-wise, and so ABC stuck with the show for the rest of that season (sweeps included), and decided to move
BL's remaining "season one" episodes to the beginning of the second season, and also moved the show's broadcast slot to Tuesday Nights. That left Sundays-after-
Housewives to
Grey's Anatomy , where it continues to do well...and is picking up all kinds of watercooler-talk steam this year!
As we've said, you can
pre-order this from Amazon for just $20.99, which is well worth it considering all the extras on board to accompany the great episodes: previously unaired extended scenes from the pilot, a making-of featurette, deleted scenes, alternative main title sequence, and commentary tracks.
Here is that cover art we promised you, which is the whole reason you came, isn't it? Stay tuned, because tomorrow we expect to have Buena Vista's full-fledged press release for this 2-DVD set, plus we'll probably have one for
Golden Girls - The Complete 4th Season as well.
