Yesterday we
posted news that the ABC Family series
Greek, previously released on DVD in half-season sets by ABC/Disney, had been dealt to the folks at Shout! Factory for future home video sets. At the time we were basically inferring that from tweets (Twitter posts) by award-winning Shout! DVD producer Brian Ward, and we speculated that Shout! would continue with the half-season sets that the previous studio had been doing.
Yesterday afternoon Shout! Factory's official Twitter account verified the deal
with a post that simply re-tweeted (repeated) our own Twitter post linking to my story, and adding a simple "Yep!" to it as confirmation. Ward also followed up himself yesterday with a pair of tweets (
here and
here) that said we should "
forget this half season nonsense": saying the fans deserved it, he said to expect the next release to be "
Greek - Chapter 5: The Complete 3rd Season" , and that any follow-up released for the show's last season would be "
Greek - Chapter 6: The Complete 4th Season."
Late yesterday afternoon we spoke on the phone with Shout!, confirming that the next title would indeed be all 20 episodes of the show's 3rd season, on a 6-DVD set. While the street date hasn't been finalized, they're looking hopefully at a
mid-January release, to take advantage of the cable TV season premiere for the show's fourth and final season (which will only consist of ten episodes). Package art and bonus material hasn't been finalized yet, but when it is then we'll update you with all of that! Stay tuned.
