Three years prior to the theatrical release of
A Goofy Movie, the adventures of Goofy and his son, Max, were already being chronicled in the two-season long animated series
Goof Troop. Bill Farmer took over the voice role of "Goofy" for the first time in this show, which also featured such lauded voice actors as Nancy Cartwright (
The Simpsons' "Bart Simpson") and Frank Welker (the original
Transformers' "Megatron"). Now Disney/Buena Vista is preparing their announcement for the first DVD release of
Goof Troop.
Amazon.com has a heads-up listing for a
February 14th release date of
Goof Troop on DVD (thanks to one of our readers, Jake, for spotting it). This isn't a pre-order listing yet (although it will turn into one later on), but if you look it up at Amazon just the right way then it does show an SRP of $14.99, and that Amazon will discount it to $10.49 once they start taking pre-orders. At that price point, this release obviously won't contain as many episodes as recently Disney releases of
Ducktales and
Rescue Rangers. We're still waiting on the official studio announcement, though, and when we get it we'll pass it on to you as quickly as possible. Stay tuned!
