CBS/Paramount has a brief announcement this morning, that
Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. - The 3rd Season is coming to DVD. The only information so far is the release date, which is
December 11th. There are 30 episodes in the third season (out of five total seasons), and if you keep a sharp eye out you'll see Rob Reiner ("Meathead" from
All In The Family) as a recruit in one episode, and as a beatnik in another episode. Stay tuned for further info, and for cover art, just as soon as the studio makes these available.
UPDATE: We've gotten box art from the studio, and our retail contacts confirm for us that this is a 5-DVD collection with just the 30 episodes from that season, and no expectations for bonus material.
