As you may recall, last week we
reported that the front cover for the 5th Season of
Golden Girls had changed from the box art shown above left to the box art shown on the above right. As it turns out, that's not the case!
As we brought up in our
Power Rangers Mystic Force news the other day, we've learned from Disney/Buena Vista that they are making available to retailers two forms of box art to choose to display: one that represents the actual box art that you'll buy at the store, and another one where the wording on the box is in a plainer, larger font to be more readable...especially if used in a small print ad, like a weekly circular. A glance up above and you'll see exactly what we mean!
So the picture on the left - and seen larger below - IS the actual cover art that you'll be able to see on store shelves and take home with you on
May 9th. Some retailers, like
Amazon.com, may display the "advertising art"; whether that is because they choose to, or because Buena Vista only sent them that version of the art is not a question we know the answer to. To our knowledge, Buena Vista is the only studio which provides these separate "advertising art" versions of the DVD box covers, so if you see a Disney product that looks like it has a really huge font for what would normally be a smaller typesize, this is probably what is going on.
