Warner Home Video and The BBC have announced that
January 13th will see a DVD release titled
The Henry James Collection. Works of the classic author (1843-1916) have a long history of television adaptions, and BBC Video is collection several of their productions based on his stories into one collectible 5-DVD package:
- The Golden Bowl (1972; 6-part mini-series starring Barry Morse): The Prince; Mr. Verver; Charlotte; Fanny; Maggie; and End Game
- The Spoils of Poynton (1970; 4-part mini-series): Pride of Possession; Sharp Practice; Trail of Strength; and Retribution
- The Portrait of a Lady (1968; 6-part mini-series starring Richard Chamberlain): Proposals; Bequests; Schemes; Decisions; Dissensions; and Revelations
- "The Wings of the Dove" (1979; an episode of the BBC program Play of the Month)
- The American (1998 telefilm starring Matthew Modine and Diana Rigg)
Running time overall is 872 minutes. Video is presented full-frame, and audio is English mono, preserving the original broadcast formats. English subtitles are available. The cost will be $49.98 SRP. Here's the studio description of this release, followed by the package art:
