Godzilla: The Series - Run! It's Godzilla! He's coming to DVD!!

Picking up where the 1998 Roland Emmerich/Dean Devlin motion picture (starring Matthew Broderick) left off, Godzilla: The Series is a fast-paced animated adventure series that pits humanity against a new generation of giant monsters. Starring the vocal talents of Ian Ziering (Beverly Hills 90210, Spider-Man: The New Animated Series), Joe Pantoliano (The Sopranos), Paget Brewster (Cheer Up), this aired on FOX from 1998 - 2000.

Now, Columbia TriStar is bringing this series to DVD, timing it for release with other Godzilla titles in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Godzilla films. It is rated TV-Y7, and so is suitable for children ages 7 and up...a great way for children to enjoy the fun of Godzilla!

This DVD features a three-part monster hunting adventure from the cartoon's first season: "Monster Wars" Parts 1, 2 and 3. In it, aliens launch an assault on Earth, using a powerful device to render all of earth's monsters under thier control. Even the original Godzilla returns from the grave, now a partial cyborg! Can the present-day Godzilla bring himself to attack his "Mother," or will he turn against the team? (synopsis courtesy of TVTome.com)

Running 64 minutes for all three half-hour episodes of the Saturday-morning cartoon, Godzilla: The Series - The Monster Wars Trilogy will sell for a list price of $14.94, and is available to buy on Aug. 24.

The final artwork for the box cover isn't available yet, but here's an early concept shot that Columbia is thinking about using:
