As all of us
Gleeks (that's "
Glee geeks," in case you haven't heard the term yet) get tuned up and ready for this Wednesday's third episode of the hit new series, Amazon.com is already looking ahead even further, to a future DVD release! The mega e-tailer has begun taking pre-orders for
Glee - Volume 1: Road to the Sectionals on DVD. And don't get fooled by that "Volume 1" in the title: the listing says it "includes the first 13 episodes of season one", and that's the total number of hour-long episodes committed to for the entire first season by the Fox Network (at least so far). So this fun title may be a tad misleading, but as of this time the release should be considered to be for the entire first season of the show.
Keep in mind, please, that this listing is prior to Fox Home Entertainment's official announcement for the title. So instead of a street date, it only says "
This title has not yet been released. You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives." Pricing is available, however, at $49.98 SRP (and you can lock in your copy at a discount if you place your order now). There are no other details available so far, however, nor cover art (only some temp promo artwork).
Also, Amazon has
a Blu-ray listing for
Glee, but it isn't taking pre-orders like the DVD listing. At this time it only says "sign up to be notified", which is standard for Amazon for "just in case" listings: it doesn't mean a release is for-certain coming, it only means that Amazon is collecting names of potential customers, in case it ever does get released. So we're not counting on a Blu-ray release of this title just yet...but we do think that's it rather likely to become available in the new format, so we'll keep an eye on that.
Stay tuned, and we'll update you further on this title, just as soon as we find out more! Our thanks to reader Michelle Teixeira for the heads-up. If you can't wait to
Gleek out on DVD, then be sure to drop by Walmart and pick up their exclusive
Pilot Episode: Director's Cut disc.
