As you know, Fox Home Entertainment's DVD-only release of Glee - Season 1, Volume 1: Road to the Sectionals is coming out tomorrow, December 29th. We've gotten from Fox a fun trailer promoting that release, with a "Slushie Jam!!" theme to it. Check that out below.
A bit over a month ago we also passed along a report from Variety, an article written there by Michael Schneider which stated the following:
"'Glee' Season One: Road to Sectionals" will hit stores Dec. 29, just weeks after Fox wraps up broadcasting the show's first 13 episodes.
The home entertainment unit still plans to release another DVD containing the show's full first season sometime in mid-2010.
To keep fans from having to buy the same episodes twice, the 13-episode set will include a voucher that can be used toward purchase of the full season box set.
The rest of their write-up can be found at Variety's site. However, some of our readers have managed to get ahold of tomorrow's release early, including our long-time loyal reader Rob Broder. Rob and our other readers have all reported that "the set did NOT include the aforementioned voucher". A pair of our retailer contacts confirmed this by looking at in-store copies. We're not sure what happened with the vouchers, but so far there's no sign of them. Please make your plans accordingly! Our thanks to everybody who wrote in over the Christmas holiday to let us know.
UPDATE (12/30): Fox Home Entertainment has contacted us to clear this voucher situation up. They would like customers to understand that these vouchers reported by Variety are not "missing" from yesterday's DVD release of Glee - Season 1, Volume 1: Road to the Sectionals. Their publicity team tells us the information about vouchers is "completely inaccurate...they don't exist and never did". They are working to contact Variety for a correction to the original story, but are having difficulty getting ahold of them during this holiday week. In the meantime, they've asked us to help spread the word.
