Waaaay back in April we
had the early warning that Classic Media was planning on a
George of the Jungle DVD release before the end of this year. Well, the Jay Ward-produced cartoons didn't make it. Like the title character, the studio seems to have hit a tree while trying to swing this package into stores...but never fear!
George always prevails, and so will Classic Media when they release an all-new 2-disc set on
February 12th. Just in time to tie in with Classic Media's brand-new
George of the Jungle cartoon, planned to start broadcasting in January on The Cartoon Network.
These DVDs sound like they're worth the wait, though. You'll get more than 6 hours of classic
George of the Jungle cartoons, plus accompanying Jay Ward-produced cartoons
Super Chicken and
Tom Slick, Racer. There were 17 half-hour episodes of the main show, with each episode consisting of one cartoon adventure from George, Tom and Chicken. Expect it all to be on this 374-minute release, plus the "never-before-seen" pilot episodes of both
George of the Jungle and
Super Chicken as a bonus.
Cost is $19.93 SRP for this set. We're still waiting on package art, but stay tuned and we'll bring it to you as soon as we can.
