About a month ago we
let you know that HBO's
Generation Kill mini-series, which takes an intense look at the USA involvement in Iraq starting with the invasion of Baghdad, would be coming to high definition Blu-ray Disc as well as standard DVD. While HBO Video has formally announced the
DVD release for December 16th, and still shows that date officially, they've actually not made anything official about the Blu version. Instead, the info about the hi-def version came from
an Amazon listing.
Overnight we noted that Amazon had changed their listing for the Blu-ray version of
Generation Kill, however. Instead of the December 16th date, it had switched to show that
the Blu-ray release will happen June 16, 2009, instead. Since then, though, the date was removed entirely from Amazon's listing for the Blu-ray version. They're still taking pre-orders at the link we've provided above; they don't offer a ship date, though. They simply say "
This title has not yet been released. You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives."
Stay tuned and we'll update you when we know more. If it's really a June release now, though, then that might be a while! In the meantime, here's the link to pre-order the DVD version, if you prefer not to wait:
