G.I. Joe - S1P2 Box Art, & Murky Release Date Becomes Clearer

A month ago we detailed the confusion over the release date for G.I. Joe - Season 1, Part 2. At the time, there were said to be two different potential street dates being mentioned for this box set, and no clear way to know which one was correct. We concluded then that we would wait for the DVD's publisher, Rhino, to announce the date whenever they were ready to.

Rhino is still keeping mum about this so far. However, it's worth noting that the source of one of the dates, an online e-tailer named "Buy.com", continues to show the same date mentioned from them in our last story, June 8th, while at the same time having added this cover art to their listing:

Other e-tailers, such as "BestPrices.com", may not have that box art, but they show that title with the same release date and the same $59.95 suggested list price. So there seems to be a consensus of sorts.

We're still going to let Rhino be the final word on date and price, but the murky picture is starting to clear up a bit, it seems. Good enough to pencil it in on our calendars, anyway. Stay tuned, and we'll have the final word from the studio just as soon as we can.

Our thanks to the folks at AnimatedBliss.com for the heads-up on this. They list the episodes that they believe are likely to appear in this set: #1-28: "The Germ", #1-29: "The Viper is Coming", #1-30: "Spell of the Siren", #1-31: "Cobra Quake", #1-32: "Captives of Cobra (Part 1)", #1-33: "Captives of Cobra (Part 2)", #1-34: "Bazooka Saw a Sea Serpent", #1-35: "Excalibur", #1-36: "Worlds Without End (Part 1)", #1-37: "Worlds Without End (Part 2)", #1-38: "Eau de Cobra", #1-39: "Cobra Claws Are Coming to Town", #1-40: "An Eye for an Eye", #1-41: "The Gods Below", #1-42: "Primordial Plot", #1-43: "Flint's Vacation", #1-44: "Hearts and Cannons", #1-45: "Memories of Mara", #1-46: "The Traitor (Part 1)", #1-47: "The Traitor (Part 2)", #1-48: "Pit of Vipers", #1-49: "The Wrong Stuff", #1-50: "The Invaders", #1-51: "Cold Slither", #1-52: "The Great Alaskan Land Rush", #1-53: "Skeletons in the Closet", #1-54: "There's No Place Like Springfield (Part 1)", and #1-55: "There's No Place Like Springfield (Part 2)". Springfield, eh? There's all kinds of jokes to be made about Cobra Commander facing off with Bart Simpson, but we're not going there. Whoops, we just did!
