In late February we brought you
bad news, passing on Fox's announcement that
Futurama - Monster Robot Maniac Fun Collection - a single-disc release with four episodes: "Hell is Other Robots" (Season 1), "Anthology of Interest I" (Season 2), "Roswell That Ends Well" (Season 3), and "The Sting" (Season 4) - had been "removed from the May 2005 lineup". Since then, there has been no further word about this title, until now.
The fine folks at the GotFuturama.com website have a
new report saying that the title is back on the schedule! Word to them directly from David X. Cohen, Executive Producer of the show, is that
August 23rd is when this will finally hit store shelves!
Extras mentioned in the most recent report include an "overall" intro to the DVD release by Matt Groening and the participating cast and crew, individual episode intros for all four stories, photos and notes from show development (possibly done as easter eggs), and a long animatic for "Hell is Other Robots" with a commentary track. All are subject to change, we suppose, but that's what GotFuturama.com is reporting. Check out their story for more details about all of those planned supplements. And stay tuned, because we'll bring you more just as soon as we can! Our thanks to reader Alex Oatley for tipping us off to GotFuturama's update.
