The Fugitive - The Mystery Unraveled: Why The Music Was Changed on The Fugitive - Season 2, Vol. 1

Jon Burlingame has the answers at last, over at the Film Music Society's website

It's been a bit over two months now since CBS DVD and Paramount Home Entertainment released The Fugitive - Season 2, Volume 1 on DVD. And the fan reaction was very immediate, and very negative, because the vast majority of the music had been stripped out of each and every episode on the 4-disc set! We editorialized about it, and Variety reported about it in a story written by Jon Burlingame, but at the time nobody actually got to the bottom of the real question: "what happened?"

This afternoon we received a note from Jon Burlingame, who let us know that he had posted an article earlier today at the Film Music Society's site, titled "The Fugitive Music Debacle: Why It Happened"; this is described as "a review, an explanation and some personal thoughts." Gord and I agree: this is a terrific write-up, that unraveled the whole thing at last. You'll finally understand why the studio did what they did...and why it was STILL the wrong decision to make. It's a great read; don't miss it!
