Now that Warner has finished releasing
Friends in season set format, they are going back to the single-disc format that the show started its DVD life with. This time, though, they expect to appeal to the casual fan better with themed collections of
Friends episodes, with three different waves of releases:
- March 28th Releases:
- The One With All The Birthdays: celebrate the birthdays of your best Friends!
- The One With All The Weddings: Monica & Chandler. Phoebe & Mike. And Ross, Ross, Ross!
- The One With All The Babies: join your Friends for the births of Ben, Emma, the twins and the triplets!
- September's "Characters Collection":
- Friends - The Best of Rachel
- Friends - The Best of Phoebe
- Friends - The Best of Monica
- Friends - The Best of Joey
- Friends - The Best of Chandler
- Friends - The Best of Ross
- November's Seasonal Themes:
- The One With All The Thanksgivings
- The One With All The Holidays
Each of these releases is expected to run a bit over 2 hours and sell for $14.97 SRP each. These are built and priced for the impulse market, for
Friends fans who want a few episodes that they fondly remember but don't necessarily buy season sets. It also wouldn't be bad to pick up some of the first or third waves to give as gifts at the appropriate party, eh? We'll be back when cover art for the March releases is available, so stay tuned!
In the meantime, for serious
Friends fans who missed it, we had
news the other day that a release of this show may be among the first titles in the new high-definition HD-DVD format. Stay tuned for further info about that, too!
