With the final season of
Friends winding down, Target wants you to "Celebrate the Last Episode of
Friends with the
Friends Party Pack"...so reads the ad in the newest issue of
Entertainment Weekly magazine (dated March 5th), featuring - what else? - the cast of
Friends on the cover. If you turn to page 52 of the mag, you'll see this full-pager:
The street date isn't mentioned in the ad, but this item is available exclusively at Target chain stores starting tomorrow, Tuesday March 2nd. It is "Available for a limited time only", meaning in all likelihood until supplies run out. Target stores are supposed to display them in their Boxed Set Best Sellers area and on a checklane endcap until at least March 14th (or until supplies are gone). The ad points out that Target is donating over $1 Million to charity in the honor of
Friends in connection with this product. The Party Pack cost isn't mentioned in the ad, but our informants tell us to expect a $29.99 retail on this.
The reason we are bringing this up here at TVShowsOnDVD.com is because - you guessed it! - there is a DVD included in this package that has episodes of
Friends on it.
The One With All The Parties is exclusive to this Party Pack, produced by Warner Home Video, and is a single DVD in a "snapper" style case. Here are the complete contents of the
Friends Party Pack:
- Friends - The One With All The Parties DVD:
- The One With The Monkey
- The One With Two Parties
- The One With The Worst Man Ever
- The One With All The Resolutions
- The One With The Routine
- The One Where They All Turn Thirty
- The One With The Soap Opera Party
- Interactive Supplements: E-Vite Invitation and ROM Games
- Music CD: "The One With All The Party Music", featuring 6 songs
- A package of "Central Perk House Blend" brand coffee
- Serving Tray with a drawing of Central Perk, designed by the set designer for the show
- Friends Recipe Book, "for perfect party appetizers" (hopefully by Monica, and not Rachel)
- Six coasters featuring scenes of sets from the show (Central Perk, Monica's Apt., Joey's Apt., etc.)
- A set of 12 Trivia Cards to test your Friends knowledge
There is no mention of it in the ad, but there's also been word about the existence of a $10-off coupon being available that is useful when this Party Pack and any
Friends DVD season set is purchased together on the same transaction. We haven't been able to verify that, but it's supposedly good through May 2nd, and obviously only good at Target (since noone else carries the Party Pack).
This sounds like a lot of fun, and we owe a tip of the hat to D. Gordon for letting us know about this in the first place. Also to Eric Schulz for his information at the Home Theater Forum, and to John Tatum, Executive Team Lead at Target in Germantown, TN for helping to contribute to this article.
