It's Friday evening, and we're sure that fans are enjoying
Friday Night Lights on NBC. As you already know from Universal's
press release, the 3rd Season of the series is coming to DVD on
May 19th. This set of episodes (like the recently-announced
fourth and fifth seasons will be) was seen first on DirecTV in an extended version, and then rebroadcast on NBC in a shorter version.
We've found out, directly from the studio, that the
Friday Night Lights - The 3rd Season DVD release will actually contain the NBC edits of the 13 episodes. Furthermore, we've also learned that the music on these discs won't be exactly what was originally broadcast; some portions of the music will be changed for the home video release (actually some of the songs, rather than any instrumental score...but we just couldn't resist the sports-related pun in the headline). We do expect the music changes to be noted somewhere on the back side of the packaging.
We asked the studio to clarify their reasons for the above, but we received no response to our query.
