The suspense-drama series that brought back the serial horror genre to
television features intense psychological terror and chilling suspense. Each
eerie episode centers on two distant cousins who inherit a shop full of rare
and mysterious antiques from an uncle who was killed after making a sinister
pact with the devil. Joined by an eccentric antiques dealer, the team must
race against time and fate to retrieve each diabolically cursed item sold from
the hexed store before it unleashes its deadly force .
This past Monday we brought you CBS/Paramount's official
announcement about the long-awaited DVD release of
Friday The 13th: The Series - The 1st Season, coming out on
September 23rd. The studio info was very sparse at the time, but now we've gotten ahold of some details that Paramount provided to retailers about this collection.
First of all, it's terrific to note that in the list of reasons the studio gives retailers to stock this item on their shelves, they mention that the release is highly desired by consumers because it is among the "
top 15 most requested TV show by fans on TVShowsonDVD.com!" Give yourselves a pat on the back, registered members who voted for this release. You helped make it happen!
The retailer-targeted info also confirms that
Friday The 13th: The Series - The 1st Season will have all 26 episodes from the first season, on 6 DVDs. Running time is 1179 minutes. Video is in the Full Screen format, and audio is English Mono. No bonus material is mentioned as being included with this set. Cost is $54.99 SRP, but you can still
pre-order it from Amazon for $37.99 as of this writing.
In our most recent report we showed you a studio-provided logo, and our thought was that it would be adapted to use on the box cover. However, Paramount provided retailers with a look at some possible cover art - clearly marked "artwork not final," and so subject to change - that makes a decent-sized difference in the appearance of that logo: it's apparently painted in blood, and dripping blood as well. The background looks like cracked white parchment, and a skull shape made out of various cursed items makes up the main picture. Check it out:
