Into Stardom Comes to DVD October 11
BURBANK, CA (August 24, 2005) - Blaring beat boxes, crooked baseball caps, Philly and "The Carlton," Warner Home Video (WHV) brings
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: The Complete Second Season, one of television's most popular series to DVD October 11, 2005.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: The Complete Second Season will retail for $29.98 SRP (No MAP). Order due date has been set for Tuesday, September 6, 2005.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air stars renowned, Academy Award-nominated actor Will Smith (
Men in Black, Ali) as a teenager from inner city Philadelphia who is sent to California to live with his wealthy relatives in the hopes that they will "straighten him out and teach him some good old-fashioned values." Season two of the series finds a more adjusted but no less rebellious Will as he begins to find that Bel-Air is feeling more like the hood. Though Philly roots run deep, adapting to his new life does not take long because even a street-smart rapper like Will can wrap his head around croissants and credit cards - and his arms around upscale hotties!
Consumers will delight in watching Will and the Banks family party, fight and make amends while Carlton does "The Carlton" in these 24 hilarious episodes in four DVDs. Season two includes unforgettable episodes such as Will's affection for the full-figured Dee-Dee, Vivian's 40th Birthday crisis, Geoffrey's love interest and Will and Carlton's jobs as strippers. The season also shines with notable guest stars like Queen Latifah, Raven Symone, Zsa Zsa Gabor and Bell Biv DeVoe. Aside from Smith, the series regulars include James Avery (Phillip Banks), Janet Hubert-Whitten (Vivian Banks), Karyn Parsons (Hilary Banks), Tatyana M. Ali (Ashley Banks), Alphonso Ribeiro (Carlton Banks) and Joseph Marcell (Geoffrey Butler).
Aside from the endless laughter and notable guest stars, the DVD box set contains the following special features:
- Best Bits of Bel-Air: a featurette with montages, trivia and pop-ups
- Bel-Air Bloopers: featuring cast goofs
"The response we received from consumers when we released the first season of
Fresh Prince on DVD was tremendous and we think both newcomers and existing fans of the show will enjoy watching the second season of
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," said Rosemary Markson, WHV Executive Director, Television Marketing. She added, "Will Smith's evolution from emerging hip-hop artist to Academy Award nominated actor is fascinating. He has worked very hard to develop his craft, becoming a top selling musical act and huge draw at the box office. You can tell from watching his early work on
Fresh Prince that he is tremendously talented and that it was just a matter of time before he would emerge the super star that he is today."
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air originally aired for six seasons, from 1990 to 1996 and became a big hit for NBC. Since its original broadcast, the show has enjoyed numerous runs in syndication both on cable and broadcast channels. It is currently the top rated show on Nick at Nite.
