Back in 2006, during one of the
annual online chats between TheHomeTheaterForum.com and Warner Home Video, they were asked by one HTF member about getting
Freakazoid! out onto DVD. Warner's execs on the chat responded that they were "evaluating a release." This past April, it was
included in a poll the studio conducted, along with two other titles we've recently heard rumors about:
Silverhawks and
Frankenstein Jr. and the Impossibles. Since then, however, it's been quiet. But in recent days we've heard gossip from multiple sources that the show might be off of Warner's back burner now, and on the studio's radar for possible DVD release in 2008.
The info we've gotten is SO slight, that we normally wouldn't report it...except that we've heard it from more than one source, all completely unrelated to each other. We've also got news
posted separately about another item from Warner's poll last April:
Tiny Toons Adventures. All that makes it seem more than just loose talk or wishful thinking for
Freakazoid!, doesn't it? The studio hasn't announced or confirmed anything yet, though, so please take this rumor with a huge grain of salt. But, it does smell like something might be cooking. Stay tuned and we'll watch the pot, and see if it boils.
