DVDs for Season 1, Season 2, Season 3, Season 11, Season 4...
Yes, the 11-year run of Frasier did not follow a normal course on DVD releases, because the final season of the show was released on DVD between the 3rd and 4th season sets. The goal of CBS/Paramount in doing that was to satisfy fans who had just watched the 2004 conclusion of the long-running show, and would want to buy that last season on home video while it was fresh on their minds. Afterward, the DVD releases returned to their normal course, and this past May the 9th season came out on disc.
Late during this Fall season, on December 11th, the studio will release Frasier - The 10th Season on DVD, finally completing the entire run of the popular show starring Kelsey Grammer, continuing the role he began in Cheers. This season had 24 episodes, including a 3-part storyline involving big medical problems for brother Niles.
There is also going to be a package listed at online retailers called "The Complete Series," but this is NOT a "premium packaging" set similar to so many others coming out this holiday season. Rather, it is just all the existing separate season sets, in their normal boxes, grabbed off of warehouse shelves and shrinkwrapped together in plastic to sell as a "complete series" set at no special discount and with no special bonus material or special package. That sort of thing comes later. Here at TVShowsOnDVD we normally ignore these "shrinkwrap collections" that Paramount and a couple of other studios regularly do. Since more and more readers are e-mailing us, confused about what they are, we thought we'd bring it up here and clear that up for you.
Stay tuned and we'll bring you pictures of the box art, and any other details for Frasier - The 10th Season, just as soon as the studio makes it available!
