Yesterday we had
the report and press release about Lionsgate Entertainment's new distribution deal directly with The Jim Henson Company, and the
November 3rd DVD releases of both
Fraggle Rock - The Final Season (the 4th and last season of the show, never before released on DVD by itself) and
Fraggle Rock - A Merry Fraggle Holiday (a collection of three Christmas episodes on a single disc, along with a bonus holiday episode from the animated
Fraggle Rock series that came later).
Today Lionsgate/Henson revealed that on the same date they are also re-releasing
Fraggle Rock - The Complete Series Collection on DVD. This was originally released last November,
in a collectible "rock" package, when Lionsgate was distributing the series for HIT Entertainment. But the HIT- designed package was very upsetting to fans, as it suffered from issues
where the discs could get scratched up while being stored in the studio's box.
So Lionsgate/Henson's new release of
Fraggle Rock - The Complete Series Collection is repackaged in a more conventional "bookcase" set, containing 20 discs (same count as the previous version) that seems to consist of the same content, including the extras:
- BEHIND THE ROCK
- Inner Gorg - An Interview with the Performers inside the Costumes
- Designing the Puppets - An Interview with the Puppet Makers
- SILLY CREATURES SPEAK
- Directing the Fraggles -An Interview with Eric Till and George Bloomfield
- SOUNDS OF FRAGGLE ROCK
- Let the Music Play - An Interview with Phil Balsam and Dennis Lee
- Dance Your Cares Away - Evolution of the Theme Song
- A FRAGGLE CELEBRATION
- You Cannot Leave the Magic - Excerpts from the Last Day of Shooting
- Celebrating Fraggle Rock - Excerpts from the Wrap Party
Cost is a bit lower this time, too, at $99.98 SRP (forty less than the HIT version). Here's an exclusive first look at the new packaging:
