Polly Holliday gives an Emmy-nominated performance as TV's sassiest barkeep in this laugh-out-loud funny spinoff of Alice. On the way to a new job in Houston, Flo Castleberry (Holliday) stops in her hometown of Cowtown, Texas, and buys an old roadhouse instead. Renaming it Flo's Yellow Rose, the rowdy redhead does her best to become a success as she deals with employees, family and friends including bartender Earl (Geoffrey Lewis), her raucous Mama (Sudie Bond), prim sister Fran (Lucy Lee Flippin) and the wackiest ole boys in the state.
Also starring Jim B. Baker, Joyce Bulifant, Leo Burmester and Stephen Keep, Flo: The Complete Series features all 29 episodes from its two-season run plus a bar full of guests including James Cromwell, Robert Englund, Forrest Tucker, Joanna Cassidy, Hoyt Axton and Alice's Vic Tayback as Mel.
A week-and-a-half ago, we reported
that the Warner Archive had just released Alice - The Complete 4th Season
on DVD. That season of the show marked a milestone, as the 18th episode was titled "Flo's Farewell," marking Polly Holliday's departure from the sitcom. Exactly a month later the CBS network debuted the spin-off series, Flo
, which had a short first season (six episodes) and a full second season (23 episodes). Unfortunately the sitcom wasn't renewed beyond that.
Today the Warner Archive Collection has announced that Flo - The Complete Series
will be available from them on DVD starting this coming Tuesday, November 5th
. You'll get all 29 episodes for just $29.95 SRP, produced as an MOD (manufacture on demand) release that will initially be available from the studio's WBshop online store (see button link below). It will also be available soon from Amazon's CreateSpace MOD program, too, so fans around the globe ought to be able to get ahold of it. Here's the package art for this can't-miss show!
