Yabba Dabba Doo!
Warner
Home Stone Video has just sent over the press release for
The Flintstones - Season 1. It was announced today, along with a
Scooby-Doo season set (see our
separate news item), as the first two entries in Warner's brand-new
Hanna-Barbera Collection.
You'll enjoy 28 prime-time episodes that aired in the 1960-61 season, and continue to charm audiences young and old in reruns to this very day. The 4-Disc compilation also features terrific (Pre)Historic DVD Extras, including two featurettes, early TV promo spots, and the original pilot episode
"The Flagstones". Here's a look at the main menu:
Sporting a running time of 737 minutes, Warner provides us with English, French, and Spanish soundtracks so we can listen to Fred bellow in a variety of languages. His shouts for Wilma are heard in Mono, though, as it was originally broadcast. And, although that menu shot above formats to widescreen on a wide TV, you'll be pleased to know that Warner hasn't stoned the original picture format of the actual cartoon: it's still 4x3, as always. Subtitles are also present in this collection for all three languages, plus close-captioning for the hearing impaired.
This long-awaited release, which follows in the footsteps of Warner's well-received (and huge-selling)
Looney Tunes Golden Collection, has a list price of $64.92 and will hit home on March 16th. Call the Rubbles, lock up Dino, and get a baby-sitter, because you've got a date with...
