It's been 8 years since BBC Video and distributor Warner Home Video first released
Fawlty Towers on DVD, both as three separate season sets, and as a
Complete Collection that compiled everything into a single package. Now the folks at the blog for BBC America's online shop have
revealed that they will be revisiting the classic John Cleese comedy program:
Thirty years have passed since Fawlty Towers wrapped, and we're celebrating this milestone with a loving restoration of the series which has been called "the Sistine Chapel of sitcoms." This time round, John Cleese has recorded brand new commentaries for every single great episode, and there are new interviews from when the cast got together last spring, including the first time Cleese's co-writer and former wife, Connie Booth, has spoken on the record about the series. Releasing October 20th.
That's exciting news! Between the remastering and the new bonus material, it sounds like a must-have double dip for fans who already own the previous DVDs. Still, we have to categorize this info as "possibly subject to change," as the studio hasn't formally announced the new
Fawlty Towers DVDs to retailers yet. Nor is there box art, either. But stay tuned, and we'll update you just as soon as we can! Our thanks to the folks at the BBC America Shop blog for the heads-up about their post.
