Earlier today we received an email from Rhino Home Video which explained the delay that occured with
My Favorite Martian (the set was initially supposed to be released in May). We had emailed them a thread from the Home Theater Forum where fans of the series were upset about previous DVD releases of the series that Rhino had issued. Rhino listened and took action...and here's what they had to say:
As you may know, Rhino Home Video delayed its release of My Favorite Martian - The Complete First Season to the fall of 2004 due to fan inquiries about previously released episodes that had been "sped up" and trimmed for syndication. We are happy to announce that we have found masters for 36 original, uncut episodes from the first season of this great series and are preparing these for the DVD set.
Unfortunately, we have spent over 4 months (countless hours) searching labs & vaults and have not been able to find a master for the uncut pilot episode, which was not delivered to us when the original deal was signed.
Since TVSHOWSONDVD.com is the home of fans who love classic TV as we do here at Rhino, I am wondering if you could post this e-mail in hopes that someone may know where to locate this missing master. We need to finalize our discs by June 15th, so time is of the essence.
Thanks for all of your help and we'll keep our fingers crossed too as we continue our search.
Sincerely,
Rhino Home Video
So, if anyone has a master of the
pilot episode, please contact us and we can put you in touch with someone over at Rhino Home Video. Please note that this will have to be high quality (not a VHS copy) because it would be used on the DVD set.
I think Rhino deserves a round of applause for taking the time, and money, to track down the original masters for the episodes.
They also sent along the artwork for the set:
