Back in 2005
Fat Albert's Christmas Special was one of several
Fat Albert DVDs
that UrbanWorks released late that year...and among the last of the group of releases from that show which the company, now absorbed into First Look, had put out. While other UrbanWorks properties, like
The Cosby Show, now sit with First Look, others are elsewhere. And
Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids is with Genius Entertainment, such as the just-released Genius version of
Fat Albert's Halloween Special. Meanwhile, the out-of-print Christmas Special fetches some large used-copy prices at auction these days.
That's no longer going to be necessary. While Genius hasn't announced an individual release of
Fat Albert's Christmas Special, they ARE including it as part of an upcoming release on
October 14th titled "
The New Christmas Classics Gift Set". Cost will be $24.93 SRP for a 4-disc set, and you'll get these 4 holiday classics in the collection:
- "Fat Albert's Christmas Special"
- George of the Jungle: "Jungle Bells"
- "Casper's Haunted Christmas"
- "Gumby Season's Greetings"
Running time is 284 minutes. Note that the
George of the Jungle installment is from the 2007 Cartoon Network series, not the classic 1967 program. Video is in full screen, and audio is simply listed as "English", with no details about sound formats. Here's a look at the package art:
