Yesterday we
reported that the retro-kings at Shout! Factory had picked up the rights from Sony, and would be bringing
All in the Family - The Complete 7th Season to DVD. This is the first of three unreleased seasons of the legendary show (Sony has previously released six of the program's nine-season run). Today we can confirm that the release date of the long-awaited title is
October 5th, a 3-disc set with 23 episodes (two of them double-length, meaning that for syndication purposes there are "25" episodes). The cost is $29.93 SRP, but you can pre-order it from Amazon at a discount using the button link below. Shout! has also sent us a nice, high-res 3D look at the packaging for this release, and we've got it below as well.
Our thanks to the folks at Shout! Factory for this, and for picking up the rights to this release. It's funny, because they have also picked up the rights to
Leave it to Beaver as well. These two shows actually have a bit of TV history in common, you know:
Beaver's first regular weekly episode was the first television program to ever show any part of a toilet (the top of the tank, actually). And
All in the Family, of course, was the first prime time TV show to ever broadcast the sound of a toilet flushing. Maybe this is an omen, and more studios will "dump" their classic TV titles with Shout! Factory? We hope so! No word yet, though, on other stalled Sony shows, like
Archie Bunker's Place. If we hear anything, though, then we'll pass it on to all of you!
