Tomorrow (9/27) sees the release of
Family Guy - Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story, which is our Pick of the Week at the moment. This is a DVD premiere of material that hasn't aired on TV yet, and when it does air during the network run of the show it is expected to be edited for broadcast.
Fans looking for a good deal to pick it up in a brick-and-mortar store (as opposed to buying it online) need look no further than Circuit City. The chain's ad flyer this week shows that the
Stewie: Untold DVD will come with a bonus DVD containing episodes of
American Dad (a show, like
Family Guy, that comes from Seth MacFarlane),
Arrested Development (from the second season), and
Stacked (starring Pamela Anderson). This disc is exclusive to Circuit City, and is available in-store only (with purchase of
Family Guy - Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story on DVD) and while supplies last. Circuit City's price on the DVD is not marked on the ad, but the PSP (UMD media) version of the same title is shown in the ad to be $14.99; a quick visit to Circuit City's website shows that the DVD is on sale this week for the same price.
Fans who prefer a more
Family Guy-centric freebie may want to see if they have a Coconuts chain store in their area. They are showing in their flyer ads that they offer an exclusive
Family Guy 32-page book (while supplies last) with purchase of either the DVD or PSP versions of
Stewie: Untold. Cost is $19.99 in-store, but you can mail off for a $5 rebate that brings your bottom line back down to $14.99 (except you have to wait for the rebate check, which we're sure Coconuts is betting on you forgetting to send in for). Coconuts is owned by the TWEC corporation, as is the FYE chain, but we don't know whether or not FYE is offering the same deal (if so, they don't seem to be advertising it). We don't plan to follow up on that here, but if you have an FYE in your area rather than a Coconuts, then you may want to call and ask.
