Two weeks ago Fox Home Entertainment
announced the
December 22nd release of
Family Guy - Something, Something, Something Dark Side on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. This parody of
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back is the follow up to Fox's early 2008
Family Guy - Blue Harvest release, which lampooned the original
Star Wars film in the way that only
Family Guy can!
When released on DVD,
Blue Harvest was made available both in a "plain jane"
standard release, and also a jam-packed
special edition (including a t-shirt, mock trading cards, 3-D fight scene with 3-D glasses, and more all found inside of some collectible packaging). So it's no surprise that fans have been asking us whether
Something, Something, Something Dark Side will come in a similar Special Edition release.
At this time, Fox hasn't announced any special packages like that for the new title. It appears that they will be sticking with the regular releases this time out, with the Blu-ray Disc version being considered the high-end version. However, Fox has let retailers know that a "Two-Pack" with both
Blue Harvest and
Something, Something, Something Dark Side bundled together in special packaging will be made available on the same release date (December 22nd), for $29.98 SRP (CA$37.98 SRP in Canada). There will be no special content, just the two specials bundled together in the package seen at the very bottom of this story. It seems ideal for anyone who hasn't picked up either one, and wants them in DVD format. As
Blue Harvest isn't available on high-def Blu-ray at this time, there's no Blu-ray option for the two-pack.
But our headline promised you a "sneak peek" at
Something, Something, Something Dark Side, and we're going to deliver on that promise now! Last week we
reported that Fox had arranged a special Walmart-exclusive DVD release of their hot new show with
Glee - The Pilot Episode: Director's Cut. On that disc you'll find a trailer for the
Family Guy - Something, Something, Something Dark Side DVD/Blu-ray release. I've taken the time to screen-capture 10 scenes from that trailer, and you can see those immediately below! It's all funny, but the best part is when Darth Stewie is leaning over a fallen Luke/Chris (next to last preview picture below), and tries to tempt him into turning bad: "
