When the early 2008 DVD release of
Family Guy - Blue Harvest had been announced, Fox's press release about the
Star Wars: A New Hope parody mentioned that a follow-up was already in the works. Today we've gotten word from Fox Home Entertainment,
via their tweet on Twitter (passing along the info from show creator Seth MacFarlane), that
Family Guy - Something, Something, Something Dark Side will be arriving for DVD and high-definition Blu-ray on
December 22nd.
This
Empire Strikes Back spoof goes beyond making fun of the
Star Wars universe, as
reports from Comic Con say we'll see "
both Elroy Jetson and Leonard Nimoy's mailbox putting in appearances," and hear from James Woods in a cameo. There may also possibly be an early first look into the beginnings of the third spoof in the trilogy: "
Episode VI: We Have A Bad Feeling About This."
Amazon is already taking pre-orders for both the
DVD ($22.98 SRP) and
Blu-ray Disc ($29.98 SRP) versions of
Family Guy - Something, Something, Something Dark Side, so you can lock in your copy early and get it at a discount. Our thanks to reader "Kyle" for the heads-up about the listings there, and also to our friends at ToonZone.net for
posting about the release date. Here's a look at the DVD and Blu-ray package art:
