Shelly Duvall's
Faerie Tale Theatre is finally on DVD! The hour-long show ran over the course of a 6-year period in the early days of cable TV's popularity, putting out a total of 26 different episodes (not counting the 7/17/85 "Grimm Party" episode, which was not a faerie tale story but instead was a show in which Duvall and Jean Stapleton simply hosted a party for the various guest stars who had lent their talent to the episodes which had been produced up to that point).
Now, a company called Starmaker II has obtained the license for
Faerie Tale Theatre, and has put all 26 proper episodes onto DVDs. Each story is spotlighted on their own disc, which is already available directly from Starmaker II for a cost of $6.98 each. The DVDs are professionally manufactured by Technicolor, and housed in cases with great-looking cover art like this one:
Starmaker informs us that they intent to get these made available in-stores and through popular online sellers such as Amazon.com within a short period of time. They are considering making collections available down-the-road, but at this time they are only available singly:
