Early in February we
first reported that Madacy Entertainment and The Weather Channel are preparing a home video release of
Epic Conditions, on both DVD and Blu-ray Disc format. We had very little info for you at the time, but now we've got a major update for you. That update includes new info regarding the release schedule, box art, content (including bonus content), and release plans in Canada.
At the time Amazon originally listed this title, they showed both releases as coming out on May 13th. Both versions list for $29.98 SRP. While
the Blu-ray Disc version still shows
May 13th at Amazon (they're charging $20.95 for it, after discount), the
DVD version is now showing
August 5th as the release date (at a $26.99 cost to preorder now). We're not sure why the DVD version is set to come out three months later, but perhaps it has to do with the tin packaging the DVD will get rather than the standard blue plastic snap case the Blu-ray Disc version comes in. Take a look:

The DVD version comes on 5 discs, while the Blu-ray Disc will be on 2 discs. Both versions will contain 15 episodes of The Weather Channel's Epic Conditions, running 575 minutes and presented in Widescreen. The show is described as "an action-filled series featuring talented athletes testing their skills in the ideal weather conditions for their sports." As a bonus, there will also be 10 episodes of The Weather Channel's Weather Ventures program. The DVD tin package will contain a deluxe booklet. The Blu-ray Disc episodes will be presented in high definition...which is usually a given, but we thought that should be emphasized considering the difference in the number of discs in each version.
In Canada, this title will be distributed on both DVD and on Blu-ray Disc by Vivendi Visual Entertianment - Canada. Both list for CA$28.95 SRP, and Amazon.ca is discounting both versions to CA$20.27 as of this writing. The listings at Amazon's Canadian branch show that both versions release there on the same date: June 3rd. That is really strange when compared to the different dates in the USA, but hey...we just report it.
