BURBANK, CA (March 19, 2008) – The relatable, lighthearted and comical side of family life is explored in the hit comedy series
The Bill Engvall Show, which will be available on DVD for the first time May 20, 2008 from Warner Home Video (WHV).
The Bill Engvall Show: The Complete First Season contains the show's first eight entertaining episodes of the hit TBS comedy, which will be presented on two discs, retailing at $19.98.
Comedian Bill Engvall (
Blue Collar Comedy Tour) is a creator and star of
The Bill Engvall Show, a clever comedy which follows the exploits of Bill Pearson, a Denver-based family counselor. Bill's job is to work with dysfunctional families all day. He comes home to what he thinks is his perfect brood, however, in reality, his picture perfect family is just as mixed up and unpredictable as any other family. Susan Pearson (Nancy Travis,
Becker) portrays Bill's quick-witted and loving wife, who alongside Bill, keeps busy raising their kids. The Pearsons have three children: teenagers Lauren (Jennifer Lawrence) and Trent (Graham Patrick Martin), and young son Bryan (Skyler Gisondo). The series also stars Steve Hytner (
Seinfeld) and Tim Meadows (
Saturday Night Live).
The Bill Engvall Show originally premiered on TBS in July 2007. A success with cable television audiences, the series was recently renewed for a 10-episode second season. The show was the #1 ad supported cable original sitcom series of all time among persons 25-54. The DVD release of
The Bill Engvall Show has been timed to coincide with the series' second season premiere on TBS, scheduled for early this summer (subject to change).
The DVD will also include over 40 minutes of special features including eight hilarious "Ask Bill" segments, which offer unique and humorous family and relationship advice and tips from Bill Engvall in his "Bill Pearson" character.
"
The Bill Engvall Show is a funny, clever observation of how we relate to one another as family members. We can all relate to the stories and relationships featured on the show and that's why we think this DVD title will appeal to consumers," said Rosemary Markson, WHV Vice President, TV & Special Interest Marketing. She added, "Bill Engvall's talent as a comedian is what makes this show shine and his appeal to consumers is evident in the 3 million DVD copies sold between his own stand-up titles and the ever popular
Blue Collar titles. He's superb in the role of father/counselor, offering advice and guidance with humor and heart. We think anyone growing up with a typical or not-so-typical family will appreciate this DVD."
