This past Friday we
had your first look at package art for Universal's
April 13th release of
Emergency! - Season 6 on DVD. Fans immediate began letting us know that they liked the general design of the key art, but that there were a couple of problems with it. First, and most noticeably, it's easy to see that Nurse Dixie McCall (Julie London) is wearing her nurse's cap, which was a mainstay of her appearance in earlier seasons. However, by the sixth year of the series she was never wearing it, and fans felt it would be a misrepresentation to show her with it on for the front cover art.
Harder to spot, but pretty glaring once you noticed it, is that the original version of the sixth season box art had the fire engine with the steering wheel on the wrong side. As several readers put it, the truck looked like it was a mirror image (but with the writing on the sides and front somehow corrected). We passed this feedback to the studio, and today they have delivered a revised package design for us. It's still the same layout, and Dixie still has her headgear, but Engine 51 is now flipped around to face the opposite direction, and the steering wheel is clearly back where it belongs. Well, one out of two isn't bad, right?
