Shout! Factory distributor Sony Music has begun informing retailers that Shout! will bring out a 4-DVD
Volume 2 set of
The Best of the Electric Company.
The first multi-disc set, released this past February, had a $49.98 SRP. This time around you'll get the same number of discs in the set for just $39.98 SRP! The release date is
November 7th.
We've had this news for a few days, but we've been a bit behind and just got a chance to post it today. Over the weekend our friends at
The Muppet Newsflash posted info about this, plus they also mentioned a "Classic
Sesame Street box set" that is said to ship in October. We'll have more about that set just as soon as we have enough info to talk about it in some detail.
It's also worth noting that the quoted message there from someone at the Sesame Workshop (formerly the Children's Television Workshop) insinuated that
The Electric Company on DVD is licensed to Sony Wonder along with
Sesame Street. The latter is indeed licensed to Sony Wonder, but to be clear,
The Electric Company - as we noted at the top of this story - is actually licensed to the Shout! Factory. Both studios are distributed to retail by Sony Music, which is probably the source of the confusion. Stay tuned for more about both titles, okay?
