Six weeks ago we
posted about a strange ("eerie," one might say) experience we had in trying to get information about a purported DVD box set of
Eerie, Indiana. We still have been unable to get direct information direct from BMG, the studio releasing this property.
What we were told by other sources is that this set was produced by the studio, for an intended October '03 release. But then the studio thought better of it, realizing that there was no time to manufacture enough sets and sufficiently market them to fully realize the potential of the item. So it has been delayed for sale, until the last week of January 2004.
Despite this, I have managed to obtain a copy of the
Eerie, Indiana - The Complete Series box set, from among those that were put up for sale before the studio changed the release timeframe. While I haven't had the chance to view this compilation yet, I can at least provide the specs on this package.
Eerie, Indiana - The Complete Series is a 5-Disc box set, with each disc in its own keepcase held together in a cardboard slipcover. Suggested list price is supposed to be $84.95, but this may change by the time of general release. Video is the original broadcast format of 1.33:1, and audio is listed as 5.1 Surround Sound. There are no supplements mentioned on the back of the slipcover box (which contains errors about the disc/episode count, and may help account for the delay). Running time is approximately 475 minutes for 19 episodes:
- Disc 1: "Forever Ware," "The Retainer," and "ATM With A Heart Of Gold."
- Disc 2: "The Losers," "America's Scariest Home Videos," "Just Say No Fun," and "Heart On A Chain."
- Disc 3: "The Dead Letter," "Who's Who," "The Lost Hour," and "Marshall's Theory Of Believability."
- Disc 4: "Tornado Days," "The Hole In The Head Gang," "Mr. Chaney," and "No Brain, No Pain."
- Disc 5: "The Loyal Order Of Corn," "Zombies In P.J.s," "Reality Takes A Holiday," and "Broken Record."
You might notice that the first disc in this set is identical to that of 2000's individual disc release of
Eerie, Indiana - Volume 1 - right down to the previews of individual releases for Vol.'s 2 & 3 that never materialized! The only major difference is in the disc art used. Stay tuned, and we'll have more for you about this
Complete Series gift set just as soon as BMG is willing to go on the record about it.
