Late yesterday we had the
breaking news that our rumors from this past Christmas had finally been confirmed: Paramount Home Entertainment is releasing
Early Edition - The 1st Season on DVD this coming
June 24th. Thanks to
DVDEmpire's pre-order listing, we had a lot of info for you right at the start. Now we've got a couple of more things to add to that, which the studio has provided to various retailers.
First of all, we want to clarify for those of you who were the earliest readers of yesterday's story: at first we stated that the info was only found at DVDEmpire, but not elsewhere and not at Paramount's official listings. Later on, we updated the story to note that the studio had updated their listings to include that title, with all the same info that DVDEmpire was showing. So this release has been "officially announced" now.
Additionally, we've learned that the studio info to retailers, which always includes a list of reasons why the retail chain should stock this title on their shelves, mentions that
Early Edition is among the "
Top 10 most-wanted TV series that is not yet released on DVD* (*Source: TVShowsonDVD.com)" ...so registered members of this site who voted for the show can probably pat yourselves on the back for helping to make this release happen. YOU DID IT!
On the slightly down side, though, this package won't be filled with bonus material. But cheer up: you'll get a 6-DVD set with all 23 episodes, plus episodic promos! In addition to that info, the studio provided retailers with an early-concept look at possible cover art. It's clearly marked as "final artwork pending," though, so keep in mind that the final version could look totally different from this:
