My Name Is Earl - Ethan Suplee ('Randy') Comments On Earl DVD Extras, Including 'Raunchy' Crossover With 'Family Guy'

Back in early March, we reported about a Zap2It.com article which talked about upcoming DVDs for My Name Is Earl, and stated that they are "doing 15-minute mini-episode [that asks] what if Earl [Jason Lee] passed by Carson Daly and landed on Stewie from 'Family Guy' ".

TVShowsOnDVD reader "T. Paul" (thanks for the heads-up!) wrote us yesterday to say that Zap2It.com has a new article about the Earl DVDs, this time with Ethan Suplee (who plays "Randy") chiming in more about that Family Guy cross-over, plus other extras on the set as well. Zap2it's story by Hanh Nguyen summarizes Suplee's comments this way: "Suplee confirms that this alternate premise will be more about raunch and less about redemption." Nguyen goes on to quote Suplee by way of explanation. Here's what the Zap2It story says about that, and about other extras:
I don't think we said f**k or anything like that, but I definitely don't think you could air it on television," says the actor. "It's the lost pilot ... it's just what if things were different. There's some funky stuff in there. We got to play around a bit with it."

The bonus episode was shot after the completion of filming for the season and will make a total of 25 episodes on the disc. Suplee also says that fans can look forward to the outtake reel featuring the nutty goings-on that didn't make it to air.

"The X-rated blooper reel should be fun," he adds. "Jason and I are pushing for an entire disc of bloopers because I always feel like they don't put enough in. We mess up at least once on every take. A lot of teabag moments too. A lot of dry humping going on in that bonus thing. At the wrap party I was terrified and had to get my kids out of there before the gag reel aired, and that was only 13 minutes long. Just the language alone is awful."

Heavy duty stuff! Once again, Zap2It deserves full credit for the above information, and we encourage you to read the entire article there. Suplee talks about his role on the show, about how some people who recognize him from My Name Is Earl tend to think he's as "slow" as his character, "Randy" (naw...he's just that good an actor), and about how a lot of the folks who recognize him on the street don't yet connect him with Earl, but instead with his role as a bully, "Frankie Stechino", in Boy Meets World. Check it out over there, and stay tuned here for further news and updates about the Earl DVD set just as soon as developments occur!

Bear in mind, please, that our experience here at TVShowsOnDVD with actors and their knowledge of DVD extras is that they are aware of what was shot onto footage, and that the studio often cuts, edits, or otherwise changes footage for the extras into whatever final form they approve of. So what Suplee is talking about is not necessarily what we may see on the actual DVD release. Stay tuned...
