A few weeks ago we
posted the rumors about
Dynasty - The 3rd Season coming to DVD. At the time we understood that the release date would be May 6th, but since then we've been straightened out a little. The May 6th date turns out to be the "order due date" for retailers (the deadline by which they need to place their initial stock orders to get the product on shelves by the street date). The actual street date, we're now told, is going to be
June 17th.
But wait, there's more! And yes, it's also "bad news". The release won't be the entire 3rd season, despite the fact that the first and second season DVD releases were "whole season sets". Instead, the package planned for June will be
Dynasty - Season 3, Volume 1, a half-season set containing approximately 12 episodes. And yes, this means you'll have to wait for the infamous "lily pond" fight between Alexis and Krystle; that episode ("The Threat") is the next-to-last one of the third season, so it won't be on DVD until whenever Paramount releases the "Season 3, Volume 2" set. Who's up for sending the studio decision-makers to Moldavia?
