They say there's only six degrees of separation between you and anyone else in the world, but sometimes it s not even that. Sometimes the most brutal evil you can imagine is already in your world. Sometimes he's just across the street. Durham County is an emotionally powerful one-hour dramatic series that revolves around Detective Mike Sweeney and his family, as he hunts a serial killer he's certain is the guy across the street. You'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference between the cop and the killer...or between you and them. They have a shared history, one that goes all the way back to high school. You think you can leave your past behind. But you can't.
The Canadian TV series, which debuted on The Movie Network in 2007, is already
on DVD in Canada since Sept. 2008, from Starz/Anchor Bay. More recently the show has debuted in the USA on the ION Television network (formerly PAX TV, which used to be the home to such programs as
Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye and
Doc). And with this past autumn's move south of the border comes
a stateside DVD release as well, though in the states the studio will be Well Go USA. The 2-disc set of
Durham County - Season 1: Uncut and Uncensored, featuring different packaging (below right) than the Canadian version (below left), will arrive in the U.S. on
January 19th for $29.98 SRP. Our thanks to readers Josh and Matt for the heads-up about these first season DVD releases.
