You'll recall that season 5 began with Bo and Luke having left Hazzard County to go race cars on the NASCAR circuit. Uncle Jesse wasn't left alone though: cousins Coy and Vance Duke returned (after a convenient 6-year absence) to help him run the farm. These look-alike "replacement Dukes" would stick around for 18 episodes before the originals return in episode 105, "Welcome Back Bo 'n' Luke." Of course, all die-hard fans of the show know that Bo and Luke (Tom Wopat and John Schneider) actually left ("to race for NASCAR") because of a contract dispute that took most of the season to resolve (and the powers-that-be buckled after ratings dipped with the new Dukes). Helping out all season long, though, was Enos (Sonny Shroyer), who returned after his spin-off show, Enos, was cancelled after just 16 episodes.
Warner Bros has now announced that the 5th season of The Dukes of Hazzard will hit store shelves on December 13th. While the theatrical movie hasn't been announced yet, you can bet it will be sitting alongside Season 5 on those store shelves the very same day! This 8-DVD set will contain all 22 episodes of the show, as well as some exciting bonus features, including 2 featurettes. We'll have more on the bonus features to share with you in the coming days. The price for all this fun is just $39.98 SRP.
This marks the fourth Dukes season set released in 2005! For those of you wondering if Coy and Vance would make the cover art, the answer is "no." Daisy Duke and the General Lee share the box-front spotlight for the 5th Season Set. And we'll bring you a shot of that once we get a picture large enough to post! Stay tuned...
