This coming Tuesday (
11/8) sees the release of
Ducktales - Volume 1 on DVD. Fans of this classic animated series have waited a long time for this release, and are ready to jump on it when it hits stores in a couple of days.
Also absent on DVD all this time has been
DuckTales: The Movie - Treasure of the Lost Lamp, the post-series follow-up production from 1990. One of our readers, "Stephen C.", wrote in to tell us that a DVD release IS indeed "coming soon"...but not to stores, or at least not yet. Stephen is a member of the Disney Movie Club, and the club sometimes releases exclusive DVDs available only to its members. According to the 10th page of the Holiday Gift Guide which members of the club started receiving last week,
DuckTales: The Movie - Treasure of the Lost Lamp is among the upcoming exclusive items that will be offered. There's even a picture (thanks to Stephen for the scan):
One warning from Stephen, though: he notes (and we've heard it from other people posting online as well) that the Disney Movie Club exclusive DVD offerings are often inferior, quality-wise, in some way to the retail releases which tend to be announced in less than a year from the time of the Club exclusive offering. So it may be better to wait on this. If you can't wait, though, then you might consider doing a search on the club and joining up.
