The high-flying fun begins when Donald Duck reluctantly takes his mischief-making nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie to McDuck Manor, stately home of their rich, reclusive, great-uncle Scrooge McDuck (David Tennant, Doctor Who). Enthralled by the exploits of their once-legendary great-uncle, the triplets and their fearless new friend Webby unwittingly unleash secret totems from Scrooge's epic past, launching the entire family on a daring, deep-sea quest for the Lost City of Atlantis.
According to info from multiple sources (but not confirmed by info sentdirectly to us from the studio), Walt Disney Pictures Home Entertainment has scheduled December 12th
as a release date for DuckTales - Woo-oo!
, the first DVD release of the new 2017 reboot of the classic animated show.
The voice cast includes David Tennant (Doctor Who, Jessica Jones
) as "Uncle Scrooge McDuck," Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Light
) as "Louie Duck," Ben Schwartz (House of Lies
) as "Dewey Duck," Danny Pudi (Community
) as "Huey Duck," Kate Micucci (Scrubs, Raising Hope
) as "Webby Vanderquack," and Tony Anselmo returning from the original show as the voice of "Donald Duck."
The upcoming DVD has a list price of $14.98 SRP, and MIGHT possibly be exclusive to one retailer over the others...we can't get concrete information to clarify if this is the case or not (however, one "big box" retailer that previously had the title listed at their website, has lately removed that entry). There's a listing for DuckTales - Woo-oo!
at Amazon.com (see button link below) which confirms the date, but isn't accepting pre-orders as of this writing. We did manage to find an image of the packaging, however. Check it out below. Our thanks to reader Jason Stephenson for tipping us off about this title.
MANY fans have been wondering about the content of this DVD. Since we have no official information from Disney themselves, we went to our retailer contacts and asked about content info for this title. While there apparently is not an actual list of contents for this item in the official info, Disney does show the running time as "44 minutes." Since the average episode of DuckTales
(2017) is 22 minutes, and since the first episode of the show - titled "Woo-oo!" - is a double-length episode, then it is logical for us to conclude that this single-disc DVD, sold for $14.98 SRP (and discounted to just under $10 by the sellers listing it so far) only contains that original double-length first episode, which the DVD is named after. If this sells well enough, then we're sure Disney will release more...hopefully as season sets! Although they never did season sets for other recent successful animated shows, like Gravity Falls
, so we're honestly not holding our breaths here.
