A&E has released all six seasons of Jane Seymour's Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman
separately on DVD, and they've even sold those together
as a "Complete Series" set (taking the separate season sets and just bundling them together with shrinkwrap). But now, for the first time ever, A&E is putting the entire show together into one of their incredible "MegaSet" packages, and this collectible package will certainly be on every fan's Christmas list this year.
At the EMA show in Las Vegas this week, A&E has shown off a Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman - The Complete Series Megaset
, which will contain 42 DVDs. Since the six season sets separately total up to just 41 discs, it is probably safe to assume that the package will also include the DVD from Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman - The Movies
as well. The packaging, seen below, is bound in leather, features a full-color image on the face and seals shut with a leather cord wrapped around the metal knob on the front, completing the look meant to remind us of an antique book. From the look of the picture, the discs slide into "pockets" on the cardboard "pages" inside, similar to DVD complete series releases of shows like M*A*S*H
and Sex and the City
Cost will be $229.95 SRP for this package, which is available on October 28th
. It's not available to order from USA retailers just yet, but stay tuned. For Canadians interested in this release, it appears that SMA Distribution is releasing Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman - The Complete Series in Canada
on the same date, but there's no word yet if this is the exact same "MegaSet" packaging that A&E is releasing in the USA (note that "megaset" is a trademark of A&E/New Video). Per Amazon.ca, the list price north of the border is CA$264.99 SPR, but the Canadian branch of the e-tailer has it currently discounted to CA$185.49 if you pre-order now (subject to change without notice, of course). Stay tuned for updates!
