Late last month we were surprised and excited to find something unexpected:
an Amazon pre-order listing for
Doogie Howser, M.D. - Season 1...from Anchor Bay Entertainment, no less! A drama created by Steven Bochco (
L.A. Law, Hill Street Blues, NYPD Blue, Murder One) & David E. Kelley (
Picket Fences, Chicago Hope, The Practice, Boston Public), it depicts a 14-year-old kid genius (Neil Patrick Harris) who has graducated medical school and is a practicing doctor, but also is torn between the seriousness that his practice requires and the happy-go-lucky life of a teen who wants to hang out with his hilarious best friend, Vinny.
Anchor Bay has now confirmed that they have licensed the property from Fox, and has announced new details for the release. They've confirmed Amazon's info that this is a 4-DVD set that lists for $39.98, and that it will ship on
March 22nd. It will be in the original full-frame presentation with an English soundtrack. Extras will include all-new interviews with star Neil Patrick Harris and co-creator Steve Bochco. Here's the disc-by-disc breakdown:
